WCHS: South Charleston Fire Department Utilizes Online Marketplace to Sell Surplus Fire Trucks

WCHS reports that the South Charleston (WV) Fire Department sold three surplus fire trucks through Garage, generating over $1.2 million to put toward new pumpers and ladder trucks that now cost $1–2 million each. The department used the platform's valuation tool — described as a "Kelley Blue Book for fire trucks" — to price its seven-year-old vehicles, and Fire Chief Virgil White said the platform proved instrumental in getting the deals done efficiently. Garage has partnered with 36 West Virginia fire departments to help them navigate the nationwide apparatus shortage.
