FireRescue1 reports on how fire and EMS agencies nationwide are turning to Garage, the online marketplace founded by a former volunteer firefighter, as apparatus prices push past $1 million and production delays stretch from one to five years. Long Island departments have seen real results on the platform: Rocky Point Fire Department sold a brush tanker for $13,000, South Farmingdale sold an engine for $170,000, and the Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance Corps sold two command units for nearly $60,000.

"We resell our vehicles and we use that money to purchase new equipment," Chief Jennifer Falcone of the Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance Corps told FireRescue1, noting her agency handles roughly 8,000 calls a year.
